After reading the first chapter of this book – Of Mice and Men, I think we understand that Lennie and George has been friends for a long time, by the way they are talking and acting with each other.
One example, is that George told Lennie that he couldn’t leave him and walk by himself, because then he know he would get shot or something, by the way he’s acting. So George knows him very well.
Another example, is when George told Lennie that if he was in his family, he would kill himself. Even though we understand this wasn’t a serious statement, that’s not something you would say to a friend you’ve only had for a short while.

Also, they have future-plans together, about having their own farm with a lot of animals and their own piece of land together. This is plans friends that have been friends for a long time makes.
I think that Lennie and George really need and love each other.

Huckleberry Finn #4

Some critics claim that Jim is Hucks “true father”. Defend or refute this statement.

Huck is a 14 year old boy without any parents. He is wild and gets to do whatever he wants since no one decides what he should or shouldn’t do. His mother died when Huck was very young, and his father is an alcoholic, he drinks all the time and hits Huck. Huck is a very independent boy.
After helping arresting some bandits who tried to break inn to Mrs. Douglas’ house, and rob her, Huck got a reward on $6000. Mrs. Watson also lets him move in with them, since he didn’t have no home. Although when he lived there, he had to go to school, church and he had to wash his face. He didn’t like this. He wanted to escape.

Jim was Mrs. Douglas’ slave. She is Mrs.Watson’s sister. Mrs. Douglas lives in the same house as her sister.
Huck and Jim met in this house, they got friends, and liked eachother a lot. They decided to escape together. Huck, because he didn’t like all the rules etc. and Jim because Mrs. Douglas was going to sell him.

During their journey, they got close friends . Jim was very nice to Huck, he gave him cleaver advice about things, and took really good care of him. Huck was also kind to Jim, he answered all his questions, and helped him when some slave-traders/racists were near them. Since Jim was black. Jim and Huck was going to the north, were slave-trading was illegal. They were on a float, down the river, to reach the boat that were going up north again, but another way, ofcourse.

Huck and Jim also met to men on their trip, ‘The duke’ and The king’. Jim warned Huck about them, because he knew what kind of people they were. Tricksters. Huck didn’t listen to Jim there, and let them come on to the float with them. Jim asked Huck a lot of questions, because he had never went to school or anything. He wasn’t very smart that way.
At the end, when they came to the town, they went to a funeral for a man called Mr.Wilks. The Duke and The King told the people there that they were Mr.Wilks brothers, and thought that they would get some money or something for this, but no. It only caused them trouble. Huck found out after all that The Duke and The King was like Jim told him, and together they went to Tom Sawyer.

Back to the ‘question’. I actually do not think that Jim is like a father to Huck, I would say he’s more like a brother to him. They took good care of eachother, like brothers do. Jim is neither very cleaver nor smart, although he takes good care of him. Jim is the one who askes Huck a lot of questions. Ex. Why st. Petersburg is called just this. This is more like what a son asks his father, not the other way around. So my conclusion is that Jim and Huck were like ‘true brothers’.

Death in the Barn

January 18, 2008

I think Lennie is really a nice and caring person. He just doesn’t know how to control his anger. He works at a farm, and he loves animals. He loves to touch their fur and soft hair. Unfortunately he killed his puppy, because of his strength.

I think Curley and his wife could help Lennie by learning him what’s right and what’s wrong. They could also help him control his anger and strength. They should just accept who he is, and trust him more too.

Cinderella

January 16, 2008

Once upon a time there was a little girl named Cinderella. Her mother died when she was younger, so she lives with her father, step-mother and her daughter Sarah, in their big house.

Cinderella was a very nice little girl, she always did what she was told to do, but still got yelled at all the time by her mean step-mother. Sarah always got everything she wanted, when Cinderella got nothing at all. The rare times she got something new, Sarah took that from her too. Sarah was really mean, just as her mother. She didn’t respect Cinderella at all, even if Cinderella was 12 years old, and she was 10.

One day, the family got an invitation to the royal-prom, where the 12 year old prince wanted to find himself a girlfriend. Cinderellas father was at work that week, so it was just Cinderella, her step-mother and Sarah in the house. Cinderella begged to go, since she never went to do anything. She got rejected right away, instead she was told to clean the whole first floor in the house, and shovel the snow outside their house. If she got finished by the time they got home, she’d get a dollar.

Sarah and her mother had the most beautiful dresses for the prom, and their hair were perfect. They were all set, and left the house. Cinderella began right away, she cleaned her room first, then the kitchen, the livingroom and the hall. After that she went out to shovel all the snow in front of their big house. She had her really big warm jacket on, a big scarf, gloves and a cap. You could barely see her face.

She started to shovel; she struggled, because the snow was almost like ice.
A big black car drove pass her, and stopped. The cutest guy came out and wondered if she needed some help. He looked as if he were 12-13 years old. She said she’d love some help. He asked her name, and she said she was Cinderella, she asked her name, and he said he was Prince Ronald. Suddenly she realized it was dumb of her to be standing there with the prince shoveling snow, when he should be at the prom, so she said she needed to leave, and ran inside. He didn’t understand anything, because they had some kind of connection, he thought.
On his way back to the car, he saw one of her pink gloves lying on the ground. The very same second he called her name, she shut the door. He thought he’d come by after the prom and deliver the glove to her, because he really needed to get to the prom now.

pink.jpg After the prom, he came by her house, he knocked on the door, and Cinderellas step-mother opened the door. Prince Ronald asked for Cinderella, and she answered she only had one daughter , Sarah, who stood right beside her. Prince Ronald said he really liked the owner of this pink glove, and Sarah said that it was probably hers, but Prince Ronald said that the girl had brown her, and not blond like Sarahs. But since they told the prince no-one by the name Cinderella lived there, he turned around and went back to the car.
Cinderellas step-mother felt guilty, and yelled for Cinderella to come down from her bedroom, she also yelled for the prince to come back, and so they met again. Prince Ronald gave Cinderella her glove, she gave him a kiss on the cheek, and smiled
.

Ten years later Cinderella and Prince Ronald got married, and lived happily ever after.

THE END.

If all trees began growing money, I think a lot of people would go crazy after the trees. I think everyone would put a lot of trees in their gardens, and stop working because they would have enough money from the trees.

If everyone stopped working, the world would go under. There would be no one working at the bakery, no one working at the shoe-shop, and no one working as teachers at the schools. It would be very bad, and we wouldn’t get food, clothes or teach anything at all, because we’d get our money from trees, and so we wouldn’t bother to work. Also people wouldn’t have so much to do either.

I think that if all trees began growing money, I hope people wouldn’t make this their only place to get money from. That people would still work and stuff. Not that I would mind money growing on trees, because everyone would get rich, and there would be no poor people in the whole world, because there are trees almost everywhere. All I’m saying is that you must think about it twice if you would quit your job, because you get money from trees.

I don’t want money to grow on trees:P

Two weeks in Turkey

November 21, 2007

Last summer vacation, some friends and I went to Turkey. We were really looking forward to this, just relaxing on the beach and get some tan. We were going to be in Turkey for two weeks.

The first week, we just walked around in the city, to get to know it, and find out were different restaurants and the beach were and stuff. After we found out were the beach were, thats were we spent all out time afterwards. It was white sand and the sun was shining from early in the morning till 7pm. After being at the beach the whole day, we went to the restaurant to get some food. This was what we did everyday. Or..

One day, when we were lying on the beach, we heard some loud noise, it got closer and closer every second. We looked up, and there was a plane getting closer and closer to the beach, it crashed right into the white sand. It was almost amazing to watch. The plane was not destroyed at all, and luckily no one on the plane or the beach was injured. That day wasn’t like the regular days at the beach, at all!

funny_picture063.jpgAll though it was great in Turkey, I don’t think I would go there again, because of the plain that crashed right in to the beach. It is a bit scary to think about after all.
